Kara's Story

You have truly blessed us with your wonderful continued support. You help care for the up to 65 individuals here at CHAMP Homes every day.

Because of you, they can learn new skills and rebuild their self esteem. Because of you, they can grow as individuals and create a new future for themselves.  Thank you!

People often say to me: “It’s so important to know that CHAMP Homes is here. Because I was this close to being there myself!”  Kara, one of our wonderful volunteers was once in that exact spot.
Kara moved to Cape Cod in 1994. As the single parent of a young son, she struggled to find and keep a home.

During that time, Kara heard about CHAMP Homes.  Because we have limited space and could not take in families, we were unable help Kara and her son directly, but we were able to help her find a place where they could go!
Kara never forgot the people at CHAMP Homes. So much so that she recently joined our Board.  And she decided to give back by volunteering in the community.

“This is a great way to be involved. It doesn't have to be complicated. You just offer what you can do and do it. The more people out there sharing, whether it is their story, their skills, or their veggies, the more connected and happier the community.”

Now, several years later, Kara is married to Peter, a Chef in his spare time, and she feels fortunate to live on Cape Cod in her own home.  She recognizes it wasn't simply hard work that got her there.

Kara obtained an Associate in Arts degree from Cape Cod Community College and she counts her life experience of being a former single parent as invaluable.  She now works full-time on the Lower Cape.  And now that her kids are almost grown, she and Peter cook for our residents one Saturday a month.

Will you consider giving back today by making a special gift and giving hope to someone in need of a safe, sober, clean and loving place to stay?  Please donate online by clicking here.

Thanks to your support and that of caring volunteers like Kara, we’ve been a place of hope, built on faith for 25 years and we’re looking forward to many more years of making a difference to individuals.

Your special gift today will make a difference and allows us to be there for people of any age in need. Homelessness could happen to anybody at any point in time and we must be here for when that happens.   If you prefer to donate by mail, download your form by clicking here.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in the CHAMP Homes mission: providing and maintaining a safe and nurturing family-type environment for homeless youths and adults.

And please consider a visit to CHAMP Homes. What we do here at CHAMP Homes is so simple, yet essential. Everybody here just wants the same thing: to be respected and be confident that they have a place to live.

If you’re not sure about the impact your gift makes, you should come here and spend a day.  You’ll come away a changed person!  We look forward to seeing you soon.

For the CHAMPs,

Beth Wade,
Executive Director
